Same Dream. Different Stage.

Mar 23, 2016

I’ve gone from being a broke, out of work actress to performing on a stage that has provided me financial freedom for the last 20+ years.

When I got out of college, I was living my dream. I was a young, struggling actor living in NYhealth companyC. Very quickly, however, I was doing much more struggling than acting. I was working boring temp jobs that I hated just so I could be flexible for auditions. I was always looking for the next gig and the lack of job security was burning me out.

Fact is, my dream of impacting people through my art of acting was fast becoming a nightmare.

Then I realized I had the solution right under my nose. I looked into repping for a health company whose supplements had provided me relief from a chronic health condition. I started simply by talking about my results and educating people on what made this health company different. People started buying based on what I was communicating and holy cow…I realized this sure was a LOT easier than trying to get appointments with casting directors. And it sure paid better too!

I didn’t have to answer to temp agencies or do mindless work from 9-5. For the first time, I was in control of my income and, let me tell you, the freedom from drudgery and financial limitation felt AMAZING! I was my own boss and I could call all the shots.

So that dream of acting?

It wasn’t about stardom as much as it was about the creative process Compelling Purposeand collaboration to communicate a specific message or vision. And having that message or vision impact an audience.

Truth be told, nothing has changed.

I get to collaborate and co-create daily with a team of success minded leaders who are driven to communicate the message of better health and the vision of financial freedom to an audience looking for either or both.

How lucky am I that I now get paid based on the benefits I provide for people whether it’s through better health or making more money? If I want to increase my income, I help more people and increase my impact by empowering a tribe of entrepreneurial warriors. Together we are a community that is creating healthier lives for everyone and a better life for anyone.

I’m still performing. I’m just doing it on a different stage.

I’m living my dream again, and best of all, I’m doing it on my terms by helping others do the same.

Master the Possible | Illuminating Possibilities: This blog is dedicated to the notion that success leaves clues. And, let me offer the disclaimer that none of this is new. None of my revelations are original. Certainly, beginning with the ubiquitous success reference is evidence already. I actually believe that there really is nothing new under the sun. All anyone does, especially when it comes to self-help or actualization is merely rearrange the material. If you think about it, you might say that most (all?) non-fiction writers become best-sellers because of how they organize and communicate the material. The material is not new, only their way of saying it is.

My learning comes from a myriad of sources, modalities and mentors. I strive to give credit in all cases so that readers may access the source(s) directly. I have benefited from many life pursuits including that of a professional actor. As of now, the primary learning lab is my work as a marketing, recruiting and training coordinator with TeamONE, a group in partnership with Shaklee Corporation. Thus, much reference is made within that context.

I don’t always know what I’m doing nor do I claim to be an expert. I reserve the right to get it wrong and make mistakes. I am figuring it out as I go. I believe there are many roads to greatness, many paths to God. The one that is right, is the one that’s right for you. I endeavor to share what works for me in the hope that others may have an easier road to travel. Simply put, my intention is to be an illuminator of possibilities. Shine on! ~ Kim
